In early 1998 a young Broome boy undergoing treatment for leukaemia at PMH (Princess Margaret Hospital) in Perth WA, had a dream of bringing some of his young friends from the ward to Cable Beach in Broome so that, in his words,

"they might feel better".

2007

The year of 2007 was the 10th Anniversay for Kyle's Camp and the Kyle Andrews Foundation.

The Kyle Andrews Foundation thanks the Broome community for again supporting the foundation beyond all expectations. On behalf of the committee and the children who come to Broome, "Thank you".

The 2007 camp was similar to many that preceded, in that apprehensive children met, many for the first time in Perth and boarded a Skywest flight to Broome.

Accompanying the children on the flight were the Princess Margaret Hospital doctor, nurses, carers and long time foundation members Roger and Lisa Lewis and Annie Maguire and Rohan Hill. Unfortunately this year our patron Justin Langer, wife Sue and his four angels, Jessica, Ali Rose, Sophie and Grace were unable to attend due to cricketing committments overseas.

The efforts of the Princess Margaret Hospital nursing staff, who are instrumental in the ongoing viability of the camp, is truly amazing. The PMH staff have the responsibility of selecting the children who can travel and providing health care for those children while in Broome. The willingness of the PMH staff to take on these extra duties is fantastic.

This was a 'special' year.  We had achieved the milestone of hosting the 10th annual Kyle's Camp.  The Broome community went out of it's way to ensure that it was going to be the best camp ever.

Kyle's brothers , their girlfriends, aunty and surrogate grandparents along with family friends came from inter and intra state to Broome to celebrate and enjoy a very emotional and fulfilling week with this years 'kids'.

The week culminated in a 10th birthday party at the Surf Club as the sun set over Cable Beach - Kyle's favourite spot.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who is involved, in anyway, with the Kyle Andrews Foundation, Kyle’s dream of bringing his friends from Ward 3b at Princess Margaret Hospital to Broome has been kept alive.

We will endeavor to ensure the continuation of fulfilling this dream and give sick children a taste of Broome for many years to come.
